TRAVERSE CITY -- WC Fields said "Never work with animals or children" but at the Old Town Playhouse in Traverse City, both are taking center stage.

The cast of Annie, Jr. will perform the popular musical starting December 14.   The script calls for a child dressed in a dog costume to play the part of Annie's dog "Sandy", but this year it was decided to audition real dogs for the role.

Wednesday, six dogs took center stage.  They were tested to make sure they would answer to the name of "Sandy", as well as sit through a performance.

At the end of the auditions, the audience voted on which pooch they thought portrayed the role best.  The votes are in .... and the top dog is Brody.

Annie, Jr. will be performed by the Young Company at the Old Town Playhouse through December 18. Tickets are on sale now, more information can be found by clicking here or calling  947-2210 for more information.
