TRAVERSE CITY -- Michael Moore was in downtown Traverse City Monday night, hosting a special event, in hopes of raising critical funds for the State Theatre.

This appearance is part of his "Here Comes Trouble" book tour. Back in September he launched a nationwide fundraiser for the State Theatre with this new book.

Anyone who bought it from one of three northern Michigan book stores --- Brilliant Books of Suttons Bay & TC, McLean & Eakin Booksellers of Petoskey and Saturn Books of Gaylord --- got an autographed, first edition copy. And then that bookstore donated 5 dollars per book to the state theatre.

Bookstore owners say the response has been overwhelming and they managed to raise $15,000 dollars.

At the special event Moore read select stories from his book. All proceeds from ticket sales also go to the State Theatre.
