TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City commissioners plan to decide the fate of a beloved community train by early January.

At Monday's commission meeting the decision was made to put together an ad hoc committee. This committee will deal with all things related to the Bay Front plans, which includes the "Spirit of Traverse City" train.

The 3- member committee will be chosen next Monday.  Traverse City Commissioner Jim Carruthers says, "the ad hoc will meet, which will be public meetings. The citizens can come to these meetings so we can talk these issues out. And then any decision or recommendation by the ad hoc committee, will move on to the City Commission for further discussion and then a vote."

The committee will tentatively make a decision on the train and other important Bay Front issues on January 3rd.
