PRESQUE ISLE CO. (AP) -- The Michigan State Police are still asking for tips in the disappearance of a German Shepherd.

Bane is a police dog from the Alpena post.  In November 2010, Bane was helping police search for a 70-year-old man when the dog suddenly began chasing a deer.  Bane went missing near Allis Highway and Cold Creek Road.

The missing man's remains were discovered but Bane has not been found.

Bane's handler says he has a very mild temperament and can easily be approached without fear.

The Michigan State Police Troopers Association is offering a $4,000 reward and Crime Stoppers is pledging $1,000. If you've seen Bane, please contact the Michigan State Police at 989-734-2204 or 989-354-4101.
