Just in time for the holidays airfares across the country are increasing, but that hike may not impact flights out of Traverse City.

Airport Director Kevin Klein says Delta has promised to keep flights out of Cherry Capital Airport comparible to other airports in Michigan and its paying off. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, more 3.3% more travelers are flying out of Traverse City so far this year.

While airlines have announced increases as high as 11%, Klein says Cherry Capital has actually seen a decrease in prices.

To save money on Thanksgiving travel, Klein says to avoid flights on the Wednesday before the holiday or the Sunday after. He says you can usually find the best deals if you fly on the Thanksgiving morning and travel back on Saturday after the holiday.
