Bowsers By The Bay to host biggest loser k9 edition

ELK RAPIDS -- Is your four legged friend in need of a weight loss plan? Bowsers by the bay in Elk Rapids is holding a biggest loser K-9 edition challenge to get man's best friend back in shape.

"Most people don't realize their dog is overweight and the full fitness issue for dogs is really critical because it prolongs their life, it prevents diseases. Thyroid problems, heart disease, diabetes, joint inflammation issues. So by keeping their weight down you can really extend their life and they live happier and healthier lives and they feel better."-Kim Nelson Owner

The challenge will allow participants to win points for their pets through diet and exercise.

"We know that with the economy people are working full time jobs, sometimes two jobs. Frankly when they get home from a long day at work the last thing they want to do is take their dog out for the sixty minutes of exercise that most dogs need," says Kim.

Bowsers by the bay state of the bark facility has everything your dog will need to get fido fit.

"We provide them with the exercise, we provide them with the opportunities to let them get involved with different activities. It's a win-win for everybody because they're also getting socialized in a really fun and exciting environment. We've got treadmills we're going to have a pool next year, indoor pool. We'll have a lot of different activities, we'll have agility equipment on board. We're just really excited about being able to provide something for the community"
