SOUTH BOARDMAN -- Michigan State Police say around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon they got information that there was a felon in possession of firearms and explosives. They responded to the home on Boardman Rd. off of U.S. 131 in Kalkaska County.

Officers spotted the man walking east along Boardman Rd. and arrested him. He was carrying a backpack. Troopers say they learned that the man may have also had explosives. They called in the State Police Bomb Squad to search the man's home and the bag he was carrying. No word yet if any explosives were discovered.

The man is being charged as a felon in possession of a firearm. Authorities say he will be arraigned Friday Morning.
