TRAVERSE CITY -- The family of a teenager who was electrocuted while swimming at the Clinch Park Marina will announce a large lawsuit Wednesday.
Attorney Geoffery Fieger and Attorney Dean Robb say they plan to announce the 50-million-dollar dollar lawsuit at a morning press conference.
The lawsuit will be filed against the Traverse City marina in the death of Michael Knudsen. The 18-year-old died August 15 while swimming with friends.
In a statement Fieger said bad wiring at the docks caused the teens death and they claim the marina knew about the problem before the accident:
Our investigation reveals, without question, that the water around the floating dock area was electrified as a result of improper electrical wiring. The shoddy wiring and the danger of electrocution created by it appear to have been well known by the Marina prior to Michael's death. A horrifying death ofa child could easily have been prevented with just a little care.
The two attorneys and family members will hold a press conference on this case at 10:00 a.m.. 7&4 News will be there and bring you any updates on this case.
