MANISTEE -- UPDATE: The Manistee Police say they believe they know the person responsible for sending a threatening email to 700 students at Manistee High School.

7&4 News is told the possible suspect is a former student at the school.

The email was directed at students and staff members of the school and caused several other schools in the district to operate in "secure mode" Friday afternoon.

While in secure mode, students were allowed to enter and leave the building but extra precautions were made.  Police searched all buses before sending the students home for the day.

The Manistee Police Department is investigating the threat. We will update this developing news as more details are released.
