ST. IGNACE -- It's a Labor Day tradition that had thousands gathering at the Mackinac Bridge.

Gov. Rick Snyder and Lt. Gov. Brian Calley kicked off the five-mile-walk around 6:30 a.m. Monday.   About 300 runners were first to cross the Mighty Mac and 36,000 people crossed the bridge.

The 54th Annual Bridge Walk begins in St. Ignace, on the north side of the Mackinac Bridge.  It ends in Mackinaw City.

Have you ever walked the bridge?  Do you make it a yearly tradition?  Tell us your stories below.

We would also like anyone taking part to post their family photos at the Mackinac Bridge Walk on our facebook page.
