TRAVERSE CITY -- A preliminary autopsy on 18 year old Michael Scott Knudsen shows the cause of death to be electric shock/drowing.

Investigators say preliminary indications are that a short in an electrical line which carries power to a section of floating dock caused electrical current to enter the water around the location where the teen was found.

The cause of the short is unknown at this time and authorities say there were no reports to Traverse City officials of electrical problems on the dock prior to the accident.

Knudsen of Mancelona was swimming at the Marina in Traverse City Monday night when witnesses say he received some type of shock and went under the water.

Officials say swimming at the Marina is prohibited
