FBI investigating infant death on tribal land

PESHAWBESTOWN -- A Leelanau County home is the center of an infant investigation.

The house is located on the 33-hundred block of M-22 in Peshawbestown. It's on federal land belonging to the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

Monday afternoon the FBI confirmed they're investigating the death of an infant, but are not releasing any other information about the case.

Neighbors say tribal police, Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI came to the home on Friday and stayed until Sunday.

Shaina Luskey, who lives behind the home says, "They taped everything off and we had to go around and use a different driveway. Just a lot of police looking through yards for something."

Marcella Amexquita, who lives next door says, "They were investigating the yard, going through the yard, a whole bunch of lights flashing, a whole bunch of cops walking around."

Neighbors say four children including a baby live there. Stay with 7&4 News for the latest on the investigation.
