GLEN ARBOR, MI -- A non-profit organization based in Leelanau County, called Wings of Wonder, held a program about the wonders of raptors last night at the Homestead Resort just outside Glen Arbor, MI last night.

In addition to showing off a few of the birds they care for, they released two Eastern Screech Owls into the wild after rescuing them when their nest was cut down.

Rebecca Lessard, Executive Director of Wings of Wonder said, "You know, what makes this extremely special is that most people don't see an owl in the wild.  So, to be able to hold the owl and then release it is really a, a nice opportunity."

A raffle was held and two people were chosen to name and then release the owls.

"Fuzzy" took off immediately, but "Rosebud" needed a little coaxing.

Both owls were released in healthycondition and Lessard expects them to stay in the area.
