TRAVERSE CITY -- Continuing our "Schools in Crisis Series," there is finally some positive news to share with parents.

Traverse City Public School District is teaming up with local businesses to bring your kids more athletics and extra curricular activities next year.

It's called "Michigan Businesses for Michigan Schools" -- developed by TraverseBest.com to help our schools in this time of need.

For a donation of $250 dollars per year, local businesses will get their business cards put in display boards located in high traffic locations like Mackinaw Brewing Co., The Copy Shop, and Right Brain Brewery.

The business can choose what TCAPS school receives the money -- which will go towards athletics.

Owner of Tall Ships Company in Traverse CIty Dave McGinnis is one of three business that has made a donation so far, he says, "TCAPS has had to make really tough choices in this past year and i've had a lot of opinions about what those choices should be and I figure if I can do something to do even a small part to help out...i'm going to do that."
