TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- The board discussed an expanded bullying policy at Monday night's TCAPS meeting.

About 20 people came forward at the meeting to voice their opinion.

Everyone agreed the bullying issue needed to be addressed, but differences in language of a revised policy sparked debate.

The board did end up passing changes in a bullying policy, including adding sexual orientation as a grounds of bullying, stalking and hazing as prohibited conduct, and the notification to parents within 24 hours of a reported harassment.

Any investigation must be completed within 10 days, and once the investigation is complete, both parties and their parents have to be notified.
