SOLON TOWNSHIP -- Officials continue the investigation into a major fire that burned down one Leelanau County home.

Crews were on the scene around 9 o'clock Wednesday night at a home on Fouch Road in Solon Township.  When firefighters arrived they faced several challenges including a long uphill driveway and very slick conditions, couple those with a very hot fire that was racing through the two story home.

At least five different fire departments were at the scene. Witnesses say it appears that the fire may have started in the family room, but quickly spread.

Flames shot more than 50 feet above the roof, while the heat caused windows to explode.  There is no word on whether anyone was home at the time of the fire.

Fire crews were on scene well into Wednesday night.  7&4 News will continue to follow the investigation and provide updates when they become available.
