USCG Crews Help With Oil Cleanup

Some U.S. Coast Guard members stationed in Northern Michigan will be helping with the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in support of Deepwater Horizon response.

The Ninth Coast Guard District has deployed 148 people, four air boats, an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter and a Vessel of Opportunity Skimming System (VOSS).

The four airboats with 22 crew members are from small boat stations including Sault Ste. Marie.
