LUDINGTON -- The S.S. Badger is on its maiden voyage for the 2010 sailing season.

To mark the day, a public ceremony honored the Badger's new historical designation. A ceremony took place in Ludington and Manitowoc WI.   The S.S. Badger was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

"It's a huge honor for the Badger to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places," Said Lynda Metson, Vice President of Customer Service and Marketing. "We join the ranks of other icons like the Statue of Liberty and the Grand Canyon."

The 410' S.S. Badger can accommodate 620 passengers and 180 vehicles.  The Badger sales daily between Ludington and Manitowoc, WI from May 28 until early October.
