An Antrim County man can sleep soundly tonight after worrying for days about his parents in Haiti.
7&4's Melissa Smith has their story.
"It's just one miracle after another with this whole entire story..."
Norm and Tressa Clark of Elk Rapids say it's a miracle that still has them in shock.
Norm's parents, Norm and Linda Clark of Fort Myers flew down to Haiti just outside Port Au Prince, last Saturday.
They were helping a friend build orphanages, but they didn't expect a seven point zero earthquake to strike the area.
Norm Clark says, "There were absolutely no phone lines or anything that was up or electricity, power. I think the only way people were able to community is satellite internet and of course that down there is pretty expensive, so yeah we hadn't heard anything."
The Clarks were left wondering if Norm's parents were alive and stayed glued to their television for any updates.
Norm says "Everything just runs through your mind at that point."
It wasn't until Wednesday, a day after the disaster struck that the unthinkable happened.
Tressa Clark says "All of a sudden I get this call at work and they tell me it's my husband Norm and I could tell he was crying and he's like 'honey you're not going to believe this...' I said oh my gosh they didn't make it, did they? He goes 'no I just saw my dad on CNN!' I'm like wow it's truly a miracle of God."
Norm says, "I'm on Facebook and CNN trying to get all the news I can get trying to find out and look up and see him on CNN and I just lost it. My daughter was in the kitchen and she came out here, it was just something else."
It was something Norm never expected to see, let alone his dad on national TV.
He says, "There's 45 thousand Americans down there...just the odds alone, the changes of the interviewing my dad is just amazing, yeah. To let me know that him and mom are ok...My dad said on CNN that he was grabbing 3 or 4 kids at a time and trying to get them out of the building. He said he thought the building was going to collapse and looking all around him he says all the other buildings were collapsing but theirs stays put. It's just one miracle after another."
Norm says his parents are actually flying back to their hometown of Fort Myers tonight.
And Norm himself plans to fly down to Haiti on Monday to meet up with a friend who is a missionary and help with relief efforts.
