A stretch of highway,  some residents call especially dangerous during their winter drive,  had emergency crews busy Tuesday afternoon.

Nearly half a dozen cars were involved in accidents on a stretch of U.S. 31 between the Benzie County line and Interlochen Corners.

This is also the site of a double fatal accident last week that claimed the lives of two Frankfort residents.

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission was on the scene of Tuesday's accidents as well as the double fatal.

Road Commission officials claim nothing is wrong with the road and found no defects after their investigation. "We are watching it closer, but we can't keep one truck driving the road, putting material on it. That doesn't make any sense," Explains Jim Valade, Maintenance Supervisor.

Valade says the road commission goes to the scene of every serious accident within its jurisdiction. They look at the road's condition to see if there's an issue so they can fix it.
