District Health Department #10 has received notification that some of its H1N1 vaccines are among those voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer.
330 locally distributed doses of pediatric H1N1 vaccine have been recalled by Sanofi Pasteur. Officials say there are no safety issues with this vaccine. The recall is due to testing that showed slightly lower than FDA required potency levels for viral antigen in four specific lots of vaccine.
Out of more than 70,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine received by District Health Department #10, 330 are among the recalled doses. Of the 330 doses affected, 50 have been administered by the health department to children in Kalkaska County only.
Remaining vaccine on the recall list has been removed from the shelves.
Recalled Sanofi Pasteur Lot #'s affected by the recall include: UT023DA, UT028DA, UT028CB and UT030CA. Parents of children who have received vaccine from these lots do not need to take any action, other than to make sure their children get the recommended second dose. There will be adequate protection against H1N1 following the second dose.
District Health Department #10 serves Crawford, Kalkaska, Lake, Manistee, Mason, Mecosta, Missaukee, Newaygo, Oceana, and Wexford Counties.
