Teen was riding behind a van on an inflatable raft

Three teens were involved in a deadly crash in Otsego County - and it started as winter fun on the snow covered roadway.
It happened about 12:45 Sunday morning on Chippewa Trail in Charlton Township. State Police say a 17 year boy old from Gaylord was behind the wheel of a van - and was using a rope to tow a 16 year old friend on an inflatable raft.
When the van slowed down at a curve - the 16 year old from Johannesburg continued along the snowy road into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
That car was driven by a 17 year old girl from Johannesburg.
The 16 year old boy on the raft was taken to the hospital in Gaylord, but then transferred to Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland, where he died from his injuries.
Names haven't been released. State Police say the towing was "reckless and illegal." The case will be reviewed by the County Prosecutor.
