ANTRIM CO. -- A Northern Michigan village has been hit with almost 2 feet of snow so far this week.

Quinn Barry says "It was a little shocking to see all this snow this morning. Boy we got a ton of it."

Residents in Central Lake woke up to a winter wonderland Thursday morning.

Kelly Barry says “I can't remember in 20 years of teaching that we've had 2 days off in a row. So this is some storm."

Some residents fired up their snow plows, others took the more traditional route.

Mrs. Barry says “My husband will not buy us a snow plow for some reason so we are out here shoveling the old fashion way backaches and all.

Mr. Barry says "We are exercise people so i guess we are getting exercise with the snow shovel."

Mrs. Barry believes it’s a bit of superstition that keeps the snow coming. "My daughter put a spoon under her pillow, ice cubes in the toilet and wore her pajamas inside out and backwards." She says

The wicked weather isn’t all fun and games. One driver stuck in a ditch says "It just slid over this way and decided to go the way it wanted to go."

After all, it is winter in Northern Michigan

"We always seem to get a bunch at one time sooner or later. This year its sooner." Says a Central Lake resident
