SAULT STE. MARIE -- A Chippewa County man is behind bars charged with assaulting someone with a knife.
31-year-old Dennis Verrett was charged Friday with Assualt to do great bodily harm less than murder.
Police were called to a home around 5:15 p.m. Monday on the 400 block of Ravine St. in Sault Ste. Marie.
The caller told police he'd just been stabbed and that the attacker was still in the home.
When police arrived they found the victim inside restraining the suspect. The victim received several non-life threatening cuts during the altercation.
Police believe the motivation of the fight appears to be drug related and the investigation is ongoing. Sault officers were assisted on the scene by Sault Tribal Police and the Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement team.
