MICHIGAN -- A review of Michigan's No Worker Left Behind Program shows that 72 percent of those who finished job retraining during the program's first 18 months either kept their jobs or gained new employment.

According to the report, nearly 24,700 of about the 34,350 people who completed the training between the program's start in August 2007 and this February either retained work or got a new job.  Of those, about 9,600 or 28 percent, still were looking for a job.

Governor Granholm, who launched the program, is expected to discuss the findings at events downstate this week.

not true. I am in Alger county and I used this, and I know several others who did as well.

it just has to be something that will allow you to continue further in your current job or apply for a better position. it can't be training that you won't use in employment or training for jobs you aren't really qualified for.

re-train

I retired from a buisness where we had SEVERAL training classes and always the same material. I guess it gave someone a job doing this. If you can gain a job thru this or go up the ladder is great. After the meetings it always went back to the same way-nothing followed thru. I like how Jen is to discuss the findings at events downstate. Sounds like a lunch outing!

QUESTION ??

They were retrained and kept their jobs???

Who you trying to fool?

If the unemployment rate is already 15+% then a 72% success rate isn't really a success rate is it? That means the unemployment rate for those is 28%. Until they can go above the 85% that are already maintaining employment or finding new jobs this is simply smoke and mirrors for a failed governor. Ms.Granholm you need to go. We don't need anymore smoke blown up our backsides!

Not eligible

The people of Alger County are not eligible. I asked at Mi Works and they said because the elected officials did not vote to offer this plan to us.
Thank you anyway, Grandholm.
