KALKASKA -- A former Northern Michigan physical therapist will learn by the end of the year if he'll spend any time behind bars.
Mark Melton of Kalkaska pled guilty to reduced charges of one felony count of health insurance fraud. The plea deal drops the remaining six charges he was facing.
Melton is expected to be sentenced later this year but still to be determined is how much in restitution Melton will likely have to pay back.
In December 2007, Melton lost his health license after allegations arose that he was sexually involved with a patient at his Kalkaska office.
There was never enough evidence to charge Melton with a crime. Police say a separate investigation sparked by the same incident lead to the discovery of fraud.
