Community remembers soldier from Chippewa Co. who died in Afghanistan.

RUDYARD, CHIPPEWA CO. -- A Northern Michigan community will gather to remember a man killed in Afghanistan.
Army Sergeant Christopher Griffin died October 3 during a gun battle at a remote outpost near the Pakistan border. Seven other soldiers were also killed in the attack.
Sgt. Griffin was a 2004 graduate of Rudyard Area Schools. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Calvary Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo.
The funeral service for Griffin will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the Rudyard Area School Gymnasium. The service begins at 2:00 p.m.
Governor Granholm has ordered that U.S. flags in Michigan be flown at half-staff to honor Sgt. Griffin Wednesday.
