SAULT STE. MARIE -- Lake Superior State University students pick their top coffee contender to bear school name.
LSSU's food services offered a smell and taste test last week to evaluate 20 types of coffees from six national coffee roasters. Storm Mountain Coffee of Steamboat Springs, Colo., won the honor to craft LSSU's namesake blend, which will be unveiled in October. The custom coffee will be called Laker Blend.
The company's founder is LSSU alumna Julie Spitzley. Laker Blend will be served at all campus eateries and sold in bags through LSSU's Galley, the Norris Center, and on-line through food services.
