MECOSTA COUNTY -- On Friday night, September 11th, 2009 Troopers from the Lakeview Post assisted the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), Probation / Parole, Stanton Office, with random checks of parolees and probationers during Operation Nighthawk.  Operation Nighthawk is a cooperative effort between MDOC and law enforcement.  Parole Agents and Troopers teamed up during non-traditional hours to check on subjects under MDOC supervision to ensure they are abiding by the conditions of their release.  Officers checked on over a dozen parolees / probationers on Friday night.  Four subjects were found to be in violation of their conditions of release and were arrested.

One of the cases involved a Howard City man on circuit court probation for distributing child pornography. KIRK MICHAEL VANDEPANNE, 24, was convicted in Mecosta County in 2007 for Child Sexually Abusive Material/Activity-Distributing/Promoting.  VANDEPANNE is a registered sex offender.

On 09/11/2009 VANDEPANNE was found to be in possession of child pornography.  A disk was found at his home with multiple images of naked children.  VANDEPANNE was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.  He is being held at the Montcalm County Jail on a $10,000 bond.  He is scheduled for a preliminary exam on 09/21/09.
