(AP) -- Michigan has received notice Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore will be included in a new series of quarters from the U.S. Mint. Gov. Jennifer Granholm announced Tuesday that the scenic Upper Peninsula location will be included on the backs of 25-cent coins recognizing the state. Pictured Rocks was the site Granholm recommended earlier this year.

The quarters will mark a national park or other significant historic or geographic location in each state and the District of Columbia, as well as U.S. territories.

The U.S. Mint is expected to begin the series in 2010.
