36 Year old Toby Wayne Bannon from Tustin was reported missing by his family two and a half weeks ago. The Osceola County man was last seen leaving work at a construction site in Grand Traverse County.
But on Thursday morning, a passerby led investigators to a break in the missing persons case. A a citizen saw something reflecting in the woods near Williamsburg Road. When he went to check it out, he found a jeep in the brush, and called police. They were able to match the license plate number to the jeep Toby Bannon was driving.
When investigators arrived, they also found what they believe is Toby Bannon's body, lying under a tree. That body was dressed in clothing matching the description of what Toby Bannon was wearing when he was last seen. Captain Tom Emerson said, "We don't know the exact cause of death however we did find a weapon from the site that was near the body. We don't suspect foul play but our investigation is continuing."
Emerson says no autopsy is planned. But authorities are using dental records to make sure they've correctly identified Bannon in the investigation.
