CHARLEVOIX -- Hundreds of dealerships across the country are receiving word they will not longer have the General Motors franchise.

As of 4:30 PM Friday, 7&4 News has learned of just one dealership in northern Michigan losing its franchise with GM.

That's Fox Motors in Charlevoix.

GM announced they plan to terminate more than 1,000 dealer franchises by the end of 2010.

The Treasury Department said the government's auto task force will continue to work with General Motors as the company tries to restructure before the June 1 deadline to prove it can still be viable.

Thursday, Chrysler announced they will drop 789 of their 3,000 dealerships as they also attempt to restructure during the current economic slowdown.
