Banfield Canine Director says, "He is in horrible health."

TRAVERSE CITY -- A dog is recovering tonight after being found thrown away into a plastics recycling bin in Grand Traverse County.

The dog was discovered earlier tonight in the container at United Waste in Traverse City. He was taken to the Banfield Pet Hospital for treatment.

Hospital Canine Director Dee Sheldon says he's in horrible health. He has frostbit ears, is several pounds underweight and needs a lot of help.

"Poor nutrition and the dog's teeth are a mess. He needs a dental, he's not neutered; obviously he's an adult that hasn't been cared for much in his whole life," says Mindy Cooper, Banfield Pet Hospital Veterinarian.

While they expect it to take about six weeks for him to recover they say he already has a good disposition and is calm. They say he is five to six years old and when he recovers should make someone a great pet.
