Now is the time for parents to start gathering information for preschool programs for fall placement, and thanks to the second annual Preschool Fair in Grand Traverse County, you can do some one stop shopping to find the right program for your child.

Angeline Piotrowski is a busy mother of two.  Being relatively new to the area, she wanted to find out the preschool options for her own child, and realized others were facing the same dilemma.   The Preschool Fair was a success last year bringing in about two hundred families. "Parents came with children ranging in age from newborn to five years old and they were looking for preschools, daycares, and classes to enroll their kids in," Explains Piotrowski.

The Preschool Fair gives parents a new way to check out different programs, cutting out some of the steps in finding a setting that is a perfect fit.  After gathering a list of potential programs, Melissa Cole, a child specialist with The Children's House,  says the next step is getting a first hand look at the school. "Observe the programs and talk with the guides or the teacher, the person who runs the place,  to really see what they can expect and what they want for their child.  Not every preschool is for everyone and you look around and you find the one that feels best for you because you're leaving your child in somebody else's hands for a good part of the day and they are really going to influence your child, Explains Cole.  "You want to make sure that person spending time with your little one is going to influence them in a way that reflects your personality and your family values."

The Preschool Fair takes place Saturday, January 24th.  It runs from ten a.m. until one p.m. at the Children's House, which is located at 5363 North Long Lake Road.
