As the snow continues to fall some people are cashing in early this winter season, at least that seems to be the case for those working in the snow removal business.

In just a few swift motions this snow covered driveway is quickly cleared, making a path for those who live there and at the same time putting some extra cash in Mike Siler's pocket.
"My neighbors' driveways and other people throughout the area from Interlochen all the way up to the Peninsula," said Mike Siler.
Instead of using a snow plow Mike uses a snow blower instead. On Friday alone Mike says he finished more than a hundred driveways, all in one morning's work.
"Its financial. I've got a fulltime job and this is my job after hours... it keeps me very busy, and when it snows this early its a little extra cash for Christmas. "
Mike says in the seven years he's been snow blowing he's lucky if he makes it out one day in November and with one week still to go, and plenty of snow in the forecast, its looking like its going to be a good year."
While Mike says the early snowfall and accumulation so far is keeping him and others in the snow removal business fairly busy, like everything else the economy continues to play a role.
"Last week, as a matter of fact, I had three people call me on one day that were customers of mine for a while and they all said my husband is getting laid off they're cutting back so I lost three, but an hour later I picked up two."
But with a weather forecast complete with plenty of the white stuff driveways need to be cleared and you can bet Mike won't be far behind.
