SURGEON BAY, WI -- Officers from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department executed a search warrant Monday morning on a piece of property owned by Richard Gale Pierce at Cordwood Point just east of Cheboygan. They were looking for the remains of Pierce's wife Carol Jean Pierce. She vanished from their Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin home in September of 1975 and was reported missing by her husband a week after her disappearance. Richard Pierce was an officer in the Coast Guard and it's believed Carol's body was taken to the property in Cheboygan County and buried there.
