Another new development is in the works at the old State Hospital Grounds in Traverse City.  Developers are eager to get started on a 90-room "boutique hotel" for the Village at Grand Traverse Commons.

Three buildings across from the "Tratoria Stella" restaurant will be gutted, converted, and renovated to include the hotel, a banquet hall, and a meeting space/conference room. Developer John Weeman, Jr. says it will allows ballroom space for groups, corporate retreats, or weddings of up to 500 people. Weeman says construction will likely start in the spring of 2008. He says they're hoping to hire 120 full time employees and open in the spring of 2009.

Hotel offices could open in just a few weeks. The Hotel will likely be called "The Inn at the Commons."
