Many little boys and girls top their Christmas lists with their favorite toy or doll, but for nearly twenty children in Grand Traverse County its something so much more than a present that tops theirs, a wish that on Tuesday finally came true.
More than likely two and a half month old Thomas probably won’t remember the day he officially became a Bousamra, but for his mother and father its a moment they truly won't forget.
Adoptive mother Dawn Bousamra said, "We're pretty excited about our family being whole for Christmas, we've got everything we want now."
Dawn says it wasn't safe, health-wise, to bring children into this world. Which is why the family first turned to adoption two years ago when they adopted little Will. Now with Thomas as part of the family they wouldn't have it any other way.
Dawn said, "We didn't think twice. We knew adoption was the way to go."
And the Bousamra's aren’t the only ones expanding their family. Eleven-year-old Ethan Boyle is now the proud son of Robert Boyle, a man that for the last eight months has filled the role of his father and on Tuesday became his dad.
Adoptive Father Robert Boyle said, " He's progressing really well you couldn't ask for a better son."
Son Ethan Boyle said, “He cooks, he tells funny jokes, if I need someone to talk to he's always there."
So now that the paperwork has been filed and the gavel sounds what does the future hold?
Dawn said, “A doctor or lawyer of course."
Whatever dreams they pursue one special fact remains, these youngsters are sure to have their very own cheering crowd every step of the way.
Along with an early Christmas present Tuesday is also Dawn and Robert's birthday one that both families are sure to never forget. A total of nineteen adoptions were finalized.
