ALANSON -- Traveling along an Emmet County river should be a little easier.

The Alanson lock on the Crooked River in Emmet County has been re-opened.

Crews performed final tests Wednesday to make sure the lock is performing properly.

The opening means boaters from Crooked Lake can travel up the river to Burt Lake, Mullet Lake, and out to Cheboygan.
