ALPENA -- A mom in Alpena County was arrested at a local school after police say she showed up to school - apparently intoxicated -- to pick up a child that wasn't even there.

It happened last wednesday at the Ella White School.  Police say three children were approached by the woman who said she was looking for her daughter. When the woman allegedly grabbed one of the students,  they ran off and called 9-1-1.

Police say when they arrived the woman became confrontational and resisted arrest. According to city police the woman appeared heavily intoxicated, then struggled and assaulted an officer. Alpena City Police say she had to be tasered so officers could make the arrest. The woman now faces charges of assault and resisting arrest.

City police say the woman's child was not even at the school at the time.

Tasers

to answer your question yes some are such a bunch of wimps they have to use tasers to subdue an intoxicated woman, BUT them same officers whom are wimps would use the taser on anyone including kids just to feel tough and macho, I am sorry but an intoxicated person confrontational or not is very easily subdued zero need for a taser its high time prosecuotrs look into taser use as possible police brutality, way to many people are dying from these things and yet use by police is going up, its almost as if they are trying to kill people legally with how they are using them, and it gets wrote off as a freak happening, just look at the national incidences of death related to tasers in the last three months all the more reason to treat these things as a lethal weapon, would a police officer stab someone or shoot them with a serice weapon to put cuffs on an unarmed suspect? Taser are about as lethal as a knife or firearm,
if person is possibly attempting to get a weapon by all means taser them but to put cuffs on some drunken person give me a break...

What is it with these modern cops that they have to use a taser on everyone. As a former police officer I am appalled. Have they become such a bunch of wimps that they can't subdue a drunk manually?

oh no..

this is sad... i feel really bad for that woman's kid who will have to put up with the bullying now.. what kind of woman would do that, seriously??!! if u had one to many, do NOT go to ur child's school and try to assault kids just to try to find yours who ISN'T EVEN THERE!! look at all the problems and deaths alcoholic beverages have contributed to... if drugs are illegal, i believe alcohol needs to be illegal too..

Well,my heart goes out to the child that will have to deal with the verbal assaults from other children due to their parents terrible behavior!Hopefully the school will use this oppertunity to educate the children to the pitfalls of alchol or drug ABUSE.
Let us hope they do not go overboard,as is often the case, and demeasnize the occasional glass of wine or couple of beers at a cookout.
