A new alternative energy production plant in Chippewa County is being put on a fast track with the help of Federal and State funding.
Governor Granholm announced back in June that Mascoma Corporation is building an ethanol fuel facility in Kinross. Tuesday the federal government announced 26-million dollars in funding for Mascoma to help fast track the project. Shortly after that announcement Governor Granholm and state legislators announced another 23.5 million dollars in funding on top of that. A grand total of 49.5 million in government funding.
