It's a new model railroad route offering a look into the past in Charlevoix.
The garden railroad at Castle Farms is now up and running. It's designed to run eight trains simultaneously on three levels. Then you can get an up close look at Charlevoix history dating back to the 1890's. The model railroad features historic landmarks including the Charlevoix railroad swing bridge. The railroad includes over 1,000 feet of track and views of interesting artifacts, organizers say the goal is to be the largest in the state.
"It adds to all the things we have for the children as part of the tours it's part of the children's maze and allows them to run through the maze and burn off some of their energy and up through the towers and be fascinated by the trains and how they run in the garden," said Marsha Braun a tour guide.
The Castle Farms garden railroad will be available for viewing during normal tour hours. Castle Farms is east of Charlevoix on M-66.
