A new nature center near Traverse City is gearing up to open to the public.
The Grand Traverse conservation district announced yesterday that organizers met their $100,000 challenge which will go toward the building of the new Boardman River Nature Center. Employees will move into the new building next week and it will open to the public in about two months.
"We're really excited to invite both past and new customers to the new location and we'll be much more able to provide information and assistance related to natural resource conservation from our new location here at the nature center," said Rebecca Teahen, the projects development coordinator.
Fundraising will continue for programs and services at the new nature center. Construction will continue through the summer and the Boardman River Nature Center is expected to open to the public on August 16 and 17.
