MANISTEE, MI -- The Salvation Army wants families in Manistee and Benzie Counties to know help is still available, despite having to close their financially-strapped thrift store and church earlier this year.

“We are expecting to serve more families this year, especially during the Christmas season. In Benzie County alone, we are expecting to serve 400 families during the Christmas season and 600 here in the Manistee area,” said Capt. Timothy McPherson, Salvation Army.

Families in need can contact the Salvation Army office at 231-723-6243.

Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., the Salvation Army is hosting their 7th Annual “Stuff the Truck” food drive at Geln’s in Manistee.
