This afternoon nearly 700 people in Atlanta, Lewiston and Wolverine are still without power.

Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op tells 7&4 news that their crews worked through Christmas day and Christmas night to restore service to a couple of hundred homes.

The recent severe winter storm initially knocked out service for 21,752 homes.

"It takes just as much effort and crew time to remove trees to restore one or two people as it does often times to restore large numbers, so its slow going at this point," Member Services Manager Maire Chagnon-Hazelman said.

PIE&G focused on getting the main lines fixed first, now they are working on service for homes in along the back roads. Crews from Indiana and all of Michigan have come to Northern Michigan to help get power back on for these communities.

They hope to have the remaining services without power back on by late Wednesday afternoon.
