DEARBORN (AP) -- A made-in-Michigan exhibition on Arab-Americans who have served in the U.S. military and diplomatic corps is heading to California.

The exhibition, "Patriots & Peacemakers: Arab-Americans in Service to Our Country," is preparing for two extended stays in Southern California. It stops at the Student Center of the University of California, Irvine, from Saturday until Jan. 26, and the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles from Feb. 16 to March 16.

The exhibit opened in 2011 at the Arab American National Museum in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn. It features more than 170 individuals from 39 states who have served in the armed forces, diplomatic corps and Peace Corps.

The museum says the exhibition helps show the role that Arabs have played in defending the nation since the American Revolution.
