TRAVERSE CITY -- After the chaos of Black Friday died down, shoppers decided to help their local business on Small Business Saturday.

Shop owners in downtown Traverse City reported impressive sales this year.

The owner of Nifty Things says that even with the cold and snowy weather, they were packed all day long.

Nifty Things saw record sales, up nearly 20 percent from last year.

Fustini's was also a hot spot. The owner tells 7&4 News that hundreds came through the doors and sales were up nearly 15 percent.

Downtown business owners say its important that people stay local for shopping during the holidays.
