TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City community is basking in the glow of another milestone at the State Theatre.

New soffit lights were illuminated Wednesday night on the exterior of the iconic theatre.  The lights stopped working more than 15 years ago.

The lights are just one step in the ongoing $250,000 revitalization project which is focused on the exterior of the building.   The Consumers Energy Foundation presented a check for $125,000 to continue the project, which was matched by a community fund raising campaign of the same amount.

Filmmaker Michael Moore spear-headed the theater restoration and joined the celebration via Skype.   A community celebration for the upgraded State Theatre will be held Oct. 24.
