House Speaker John Boehner says congress will deal with the Farm Bill after the November election.

The new bill will set policy for the next five years. Because of the delay, a variety of programs authorized under the current bill in 2008 to expire on October 1st.

The democratic controlled U.S. Senate passed a bill in June, however the republican controlled house is sitting on a seperate version of the bill.

The main controversy on the Farm Bill deals with cuts to the supplemental nutrition assistance program, formerly called food stamps. The Senate version cuts about $4.5 billion from the program. The House version cuts $16 billion dollars.
