Friday is DTE Energy Green Day at the National Cherry Festival. Numerous vendors, demonstrations, and kids activities will highlight renewable energy, recycling, water conservation, and other green themes.

The Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City has incorporated energy-saving and water-saving initiatives over the past year. The entire hotel chain, consisting of 12 properties, is the first to be certified by Green Seal for reaching specific environmental goals.

Students at Mill Creek Elementary School are learning about water and conservation through songs, skits, puppet shows, and digging in the dirt! The two week program will bring water and environmental experts, health department employees, songwriters, and puppeteers together with the kids to help them create their own "water story."
